An American naturalist, Albert S. Bickmore (one of the founder of the American Museum of Natural History), once visit and met Raden Saleh himself at his house at Cikini. In his book (Travels East Indian Archipelago), it's mentioned that Mr. Bickmore write to describe the mansion: The palace was containing one main building and two wings, all circled by gallery. When we enter the building we will found the wide hall. At the hall we will find doors to another room at left and right side. The hall covered by Belgian tapestry and antique furniture. The front yard was arranged in harmony with beautiful plants.
No local nobleman has a palace as beautiful as Raden Saleh.
